Within the framework of the most important aerospace fair of this 2022 in Europe, which takes place in the United Kingdom, the Mexican company Hydra presents the S-45 BÁALAM air or manned system in conjunction with the Turkish defence industry, with whom it is carrying out work on the integration of armament and electronic warfare systems originating from that country, a NATO member, to be installed on aircraft manufactured in Mexico for the world market.
The Turkish defence industry has shown great versatility and efficiency in the development of high-precision weapon systems such as the Bayraktar TB2, making the addition of these capabilities to aircraft designed and manufactured in Mexico for the global market an efficient and proven option for the world's armed forces.
The S-45 Baalam is a design by Mexican company Hydra Technologies, has a range of 12 hours and a range of 75 miles, with a service ceiling of 17,000 ft. and can be controlled up to a distance of 80 kilometres.
The S45 Balaam (Jaguar in Mayan) is a twin-engine, piston-powered, gasoline-powered Unmanned Aerial Vehicle with a wingspan of 5 metres, an operational range of 120 km, a 12-hour endurance, an operational ceiling of 4,500 m and a payload capacity of up to 5 kg.
The S45 is designed for rapid deployment, with two people it can be deployed in less than 20 minutes to set up the ground control station and aircraft before being ready for flight. Hydra has developed, designed and produced the airframe, control electronics and autopilot software, as well as specialised sensors such as the Inertial Navigation System (INS). The aircraft's main tasks are patrolling, searching for missing persons and surveillance.
