The Guatemalan Air Force (FAG) conducted the first demonstration flight of its recently acquired S4 Ehécatl remotely piloted aerial vehicle, from Mexico's Hydra Technologies.
As Guatemala's president, Alejandro Giammattei, oversaw the demonstration flight from La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City. "This aircraft improves the capabilities of the State to continue the frontal fight against transnational crime and reinforces our security policy and defence of the nation," said Giammattei.
Features and benefits
The unmanned aircraft remotely operated by the FAG has the capabilities to carry out strategic and protected aerial monitoring, security and surveillance.
Its design allows for surveillance and aerial reconnaissance patrols with a flight range of more than 10 hours and an operating radius of more than 100 kilometres, and its versatility allows it to take off and land on tarmac runways as well as in rural terrain. The UAV also has the capability to collect real-time image and video information from an altitude of more than 8,000 feet.
